Promoting healthier lifestyle all-round at Me Time
A WELL-BEING afternoon at Grayswood Village Hall on Sunday was also an opportunity to try taster sessions of different exercise classes, as well as sample a healthy twist on a traditional afternoon tea.
Haslemere-based nutritionist Jeanette Townsend mounted the event as a “me time” treat for those too busy to enjoy a pamper session that could also be a bit of a work out.
Visitors were put through their paces by Fernhurst-based personal trainer Adam Burger, who led sculpt and tone sessions, calming classes with Haslemere mindfulness coach Tosh Brittan, hands on attention from the town’s masseuse Emma Boyce, and workouts with pilates instructor Sophie.
Particular attention was paid to the importance of a healthy diet.
Fellow nutritionist Ros Miller gave a talk and Jeanette created a vegan twist on afternoon tea, serving up plant-based snacks that were gluten-free, dairy-free and free from refined sugar.
“I had really positive feedback and I’m working on another event next February,” Jeanette said.
“Everyone said they thought the afternoon tea was delicious and they liked the mix of exercise and mindfulness.
“I run a wholefood nutrition business and I’m passionate about healthy food and the importance of people taking steps to lead a healthier lifestyle.
“I wanted Sunday’s event to give people the chance to take a few hours for themselves out of their busy lives.
“There was a real mix of ages from those in their 20s to their 50s and they all went home with a goodie bag.
“I filled them with healthy energy bars, a natural deodorant, nut butter, museli and Yogi herb and spice tea.”
While the event was under way, Grayswood Nursery School, which normally occupies the village hall, hosted a woodland bonfire party at its forest school from 3pm, with lantern and fairy wand making, den building, toasting marshmallows, and Catherine wheels.
